A few mature ponderosa pines may have survived along the very top of the ridge north of the river. If so, new pines may be able to spread from these pockets of survivors.

Post wildfire scene at The Nature Conservancy’s Niobrara Valley Preserve in Nebraska. Wildfire was in July 2012. Some pines may have survived at the very edge of the ridge north of the river.
