We’re still waiting for our first real snow here in my part of Nebraska, which is a little disappointing.  I’m looking forward to a walk through the prairie on the first sunny morning after a snow storm.  It’s then I get to follow the tracks of other creatures who passed by before me.  I also like to see the results of the wind – snow drifts, seeds scattered across the snow, and patterns drawn by leaves and stems that are tethered at one end but free-swinging at the other.

Enjoy the holiday season over the next couple of weeks.  I hope, amidst all the family and other events, you’ll have some time to take a walk or two in your own neighborhood prairie.  I know I will.
