I spent Friday at the Niobrara Valley Preserve, helping with a prescribed fire, so didn’t have time for a blog post. However, I did find a few minutes to climb up above the river as the sun came up through the fog Friday morning. Here are a couple quick photos from that spot.

very atmospheric, great shots. But what I would like to know about the Preserve is, given all the damage in the eastern third of the state (including the downstream portion of the Niobrara River) was there anything similar happening upstream at the Preserve?
Beautiful! I’m so enjoying your posts Chris. I was wondering if you can help me identify this delicate little wildflower that has popped up all over the 100 acre prairie I’ve been walking on this spring close to Lincoln. I haven’t been able to find it yet. I managed to get a few iPhone photos @2x of it even while the pup kept nudging me to throw his ball.
