Photo of the Week – May 31, 2019

It’s awfully handy to have a native prairie garden in my backyard. Whenever the light is nice, I can just slip outside and do some photography. This morning, the Ohio spiderwort was in full bloom and buzzing with hover flies, so I spent a pleasant half hour enjoying both the flowers and their visitors.

I’m looking forward to seeing some of you at the North American Prairie Conference next week. It should be a great time – it’s always one of my favorite conferences because of the wide variety of speakers and topics. I’m sure the Houston weather will be pleasantly cool too… Regardless, I hope you enjoy these spiderwort photos.

  1. Lovely photos. As it happens, I found my first hairyflower spiderwort (Tradescantia hirsutiflora) at the Sandylands Sanctuary a few weeks ago. It ought to still be in bloom.
