This week, I spent a lot of time at home with the kids. As a result, I wasn’t out in the field with my camera much and I’m dipping into my files for this week’s featured photos. I’m incredibly fortunate to have regular access to the two bison herds at The Nature Conservancy’s Niobrara Valley Preserve. Since there’s never a bad time to look at bison photos, here are some of my favorites. Enjoy your weekend!

Ah, the buffalo is as American as it gets! So essential to our American history ecologically and to human history!
I think I wrote in about an Arizona valley farmer who thought he could keep a buffalo as a pet on his farm field! Well that is another story, HAH!
thanks

The calves are cute beyond words, but I do appreciate the photos that focus on the eye — especially the one that’s almost all eye. Their eyes fascinate me; there’s so clearly someone “at home” there, filled with curiosity and intelligence.
Thank you! Great photos of a wondrous beast!!

Wonderful as always. Thanks. Noel Rose
Stunning, just what I needed to continue believing in a future.
My favorite is the single buffalo with the grasses in front of the face– wow!
